We at Jigs Direct are passionate about our fishing - jig fishing! Jigging would have to be one of the most contagious fishing forms around, once you have hooked those monsters on light weight tackle; there is no turning back!
Unfortunately, quality jig tackle is not only rare but expensive in NZ which is the reason why this website exists. Not only are we a one-stop shop, we can support jiggers with tips and techniques to improve their results and generally provide where regular retailers do not.
My passion for this black art initially lead me to seek out Yoichi Mogi, the man credited with the re-development of jigging. Fortunately for me, Mogi had reserved another jigging trip in NZ and I was able to crash his party. The lessons learn't and the experience gained during that crash course has lead me to seek out some of the best tackle available and introduce it to NZ and expose it globally. I also lured the AG Anglers of Taiwan to NZ to test their tackle with the result being a Jigging Master range of rods and jigs for our market.
As a member of the global jigging community, I have been able to bring over several groups of international jiggers to sample some of the world's biggest Yellowtail Kingfish. The resulting interest has firmly put NZ on the map as a highly desireable and pristine jigging destination.
